comic book stores are completely male-dominated spaces. went to Silver Line Comics in Astoria today, on the second floor of the building right next to the subway platform (they're actually connected, plaza-style, which i only realized on the way back out): felt like i was trespassing on a boys' club treehouse, stealing their super nerdcore secrets...
randomly chose Yoshihiro Tatsumi's The Push Man and other stories. don't know much about it, except that it should get me in that weird-ass Japanese state of mind and hopefully ready to tackle my first fiction of the year: Murakami's Kafka on the Shore.
speaking of which...Murakami's stuff is prime material for graphic novelization, it's a wonder there haven't already been attempts.
